Syndication Techniques
Feeds provide syndication techniques for web sites. These feeds provide structured access to content which in turn allows computer applications to understand this information. This has allowed the development of RSS Readers and aggregation software. Feedburner, which is listed here but is not a syndication technique, provides access to RSS feeds but provides a layer of reporting and features. Feedburner was acquired by Google in May 2005.
RSS is the most popular syndication technique, spearheaded by its development out of Netscape in the late 90ies. RSS goes hand in hand with Blog and piggy backed off its popularity to show the strong up take and usage it receives today.
