What is BuiltWith Trends?
BuiltWith Trends provides weekly updated free information about the most popular technology used on the web across all areas of web technology including but not limited to analytics, advertising, frameworks, ecommerce and website widgets.

How are the charts calculated?
The charts show the percentage of sites using the selected technology within the top 10,000, top 100,000 and top million sites over a historical period of time. We update the charts on a weekly basis.

What are the spikes in the data?
Spikes in the data can be attributed to a few things. The most regular occurrence is due to us finding a new way of fingerprinting the technology, or removing a fingerprint that
has been found to be too broad for the results.

Any other reason for anomalies in the data?
We update the top million site list every time we run a report. Very occasionally the server that does the top million statistics will have
network or routing issues connecting to sites and may cause spikes.

What makes up the top sites?
The top sites are the internets most visited and most well known brands. Our top site lists are made up of various sources which include Quantcast Top Million, Alexa Top Million,
Google Top 1000, Internet Retailer 500 and the Fortune 2000.
Our trends are based on the Quantcast Top Million, we believe this is a significantly large dataset to determine the trending usage of any particular web technology.

How do you know X Technology is running on XX million sites?
We have visited every .com, .net, .org, over two million .co.uk sites and many more international domains to find what web technologies they are running.
We've indexed about 90 million distinct websites out of a total of 133 million domains we know of.

Usage is higher than websites using the technology. Why is that?
We would love to produce weekly stats covering the entire internet and will hopefully be able to provide that in the future. At the moment we are providing weekly updates in the top million and our base usage values are based on the
top 10,000 websites. We consider the top 10k the websites which may be more readily updated to latest technologies than others and therefore set a benchmark for the rest of the web.

| Can I use the trends in my own reports?
Our Terms and Conditions do not allow this however you may use screenshots of the trends graphs providing you attribute the image back to us with a link to the URL of the graph. If you want contact us to talk about it, in the majority of cases it will be fine to use the data.

How long have you been doing this?
BuiltWith has been around since July 2007 and is the first site to do web technology tracking.
